In reading up on the latest information related to the water softener ban in California, there was a site that had some interesting statistics --- this is one from the Santa Clarita Valley Water District website in California ...... There is a follow on piece that states that "automatic water softeners waste water and can spill as much as 350 pounds of salt into the waste stream per year, polluting waterways and damaging plant and aquatic life. Water softeners and reverse osmosis systems also waste hundreds of gallons of water per household every month."
We should make sure that the chemicals dont pollute the waterways..
