California has directly addressed water issues in their state by passing legislation that allows communities to ban salt based softener systems. These systems waste up to 25 gallons of water each time they "charge" their systems and the discharge from these systems enter the water table and in several counties in California, have caused farmers to abandon fields tainted by excess saline making crop production impossible.
Other states are evaluating similar legislation as there truly is no water to waste. But the cry goes up from the homeowner, the restaurant, the laundromat --- how do I manage my hardwater?! If the softener goes, where do I turn?
There's a number of solutions touted in the market that will handle limescale issues and one needs to be cautious when doing their due diligence. Magnets are one of the solutions and do have their place in the market but understand magnets are FLOW DEPENDENT meaning for them to be effective, the water has to be running all the time. When the water is static, the molecules return to their original state. No one runs their water all the time.
There are other systems costing several thousands of dollars that purport to be effective in eliminating limescale. But it's important to remember, limescale is a combination of calcium and magnesium --- both minerals essential for a healthy body. Removing them means you will need to supplement your diet with both minerals usually in the form of a vitamin.
Hydrocare is not magnetic, works 24/7, not flow dependent and does not remove the calcium and magnesium from the water --- it prevents the molecules from forming scale crystals without chemicals or salt. Ecologically friendly and needs no maintenance. Scroll through the site for more information.
